Statement On Mass Outages Affecting Travel

Julia Lo Bue-Said, CEO of The Advantage Travel Partnership, said:

“The mass outages being reported around the world are considerably affecting airlines, airports and railways with Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, Stansted, Luton amongst those reporting issues. For anyone travelling today we would highly recommend checking your route in advance of travel, staying up to date with the latest information and arriving earlier than normal to avoid any further disruption.

In terms of compensation for disruption it ultimately depends on the length of the delay in getting to your destination and also the distance of your flight. Ultimately, the best way to protect yourself when it comes to facing travel disruption is to book with a local travel agent, someone you know you can easily contact and who will be readily available if you need support with your booking whether travelling for business or on holiday.

You should also ensure you have good travel insurance in place to protect against cancellations or additional costs incurred as a result of disruption.”
