Jessica Rayner joins FAM trip to Poland with LOT Polish Airlines

I was lucky enough to be invited on a FAM trip to Poland recently, experiencing the best sights, sounds - and flavours of both Warsaw and Wrocław, hosted by Christopher Szumilo from LOT Polish Airlines who we have a commercial agreement in place with. Accompanying me on this great trip were some of our members from Altour, FCM, and JTA Travel. The journey was an incredible blend of cultural immersion, historical exploration, and culinary delights, making it a truly memorable experience.

Day 1

Our adventure began when we boarded our flight with LOT Polish Airlines. The airline provided exceptional service, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable flight. We landed in Warsaw and were warmly welcomed before being whisked away for a delightful lunch at a local eatery. The restaurant, a hidden gem in the heart of the city, offered us a taste of traditional Polish cuisine, featuring pierogi and bigos, which set the tone for the culinary journey ahead.

Post-lunch, we embarked on a walking tour of Warsaw’s vibrant streets. We explored the beautifully restored Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with its picturesque squares and charming alleys. The bustling Market Square, with its colourful facades and lively atmosphere, was a highlight. In the late afternoon, we boarded our second flight to Wrocław.

Upon arrival in Wrocław, we checked into the charming Altas Hotel, a luxurious 5-star hotel that exuded elegance and comfort. The evening was capped off with an exquisite four-course meal at the hotel's fine dining restaurant, where we savoured gourmet dishes paired with fine wines.

Day 2

Our second day in Wrocław started with a comprehensive walking tour of the city. We visited historical sites such as the Centennial Hall, a marvel of modernist architecture, and the Four Domes Pavilion, home to an impressive collection of contemporary art. Our knowledgeable guide shared fascinating insights into the city's rich history and cultural heritage.

Lunch was an extraordinary experience at a local cider factory. We enjoyed a variety of artisanal ciders paired with hearty Polish dishes, learning about the cider-making process from the producers. The factory tour was both informative and delicious, highlighting the craftsmanship behind each bottle.

The afternoon featured a historic tram ride to Cathedral Island, the oldest part of the city. The Gothic beauty of Wrocław Cathedral and the serene surroundings made it a perfect spot for reflection and admiration.

In the evening, we indulged in a delightful meal at a renowned jazz club. The live music, coupled with a delectable menu, created an unforgettable dining experience. The club's ambience and the talented musicians made it a night to remember.

Day 3

Day three began with a visit to the Panorama of the Battle of Racławice, a monumental cycloramic painting depicting a key battle in Polish history. The immersive presentation provided a vivid sense of the historical event and its significance.

Afterwards, we embarked on a scenic river cruise, offering stunning views of Wrocław's skyline, the picturesque scenery provided a perfect backdrop for relaxation.

In the afternoon, we visited a nearby winery. The tour of the vineyards, combined with the wine-tasting session, allowed us to appreciate the region's viticulture. We sampled some of the finest local wines, learning about the unique characteristics of each variety.

Day 4

Our final day in Poland was a bittersweet farewell. We reflected on the incredible experiences and the warm hospitality we received throughout the trip. As we departed for home on another comfortable journey with LOT Polish Airlines, we carried with us fond memories of the places we visited, the people we met, and the experiences we shared.
